Who We Are

Hobby Hills Acres is a national leader in breeding, raising and selling quality registered mini silky fainting goats for both Goat Show and pet purposes.  We offer mini silky fainting goats with great conformation and long silky hair in new and exciting colors.  Our mini silky goats have won many awards, and, at the time of this article, we are first in the country with producing the most Master Champions. We are very proud having this status because we have worked very hard to develop our particular style of the mini silky fainting goat breed.

Our goal is to help set the standards for this newly developing breed for the ideal size, conformation, and length and extremeness of silky hair,  as well as their personality and character. And by our number of Master Champions, it looks like we are heading in the right direction.

We are a small family operated mini silky fainting goat farm located in the hills north of Omaha, Nebraska. We absolutly love the breed of mini silky fainting goats and have been joyfully raising them for the past seven (7) years.

Why Our Goats are Special

We have a wonderful selection of “extreme” coated mini silkies because our herd comes from some fantastic lines of mini silky goats.  We take great care of our herd with good husbandry practices, proper nutrition and preventive care.  Our goats are groomed regularly,  loved on a daily basis, and are very, very affectionate and friendly in return.

How You can Benefit from Adding Our Goat Pedigree to Your Line

Our mini silky champion bloodline pedigrees have been carefully developed throughout our breeding process to have the characteristics of the most sought after in the Miniature Silky Fainting Goat Breed Standards.  Our baby fainting goats are excellent “show quality” animals with great personality and character, which make fabulous pets as well.  We do not sell our goats to anyone for the purpose of eating.  This breed is not a “meat producing” breed. We only sell to persons who are committed to caring and nurturing this loving, laid-back animal.

With Hobby Hills Acres mini silky fainting goats you can increase your herd with baby offspring from Master Champions and Grand Champions.  Hobby HIlls Acres mini silkies will raise your quality of breeding standards to help increase your awards  in the Goat Show arena.  They are also a wonderful companion for your lonely pet mini silky fainting goat.   A Mini Silky Fainting Goat Master Champion or Grand Champion Fainting Goat from Hobby Hills Acres may just be what you are looking for!

Our Story

Linda and I began our goat adventure back in the summer of 2007.  We loaded up the mini van with our bottle baby, Covergirl, my poodle Foo Foo and one crate and embarked on a laughter filled 27 hour drive to Virginia with the intent on getting Bad Boy and maybe, just maybe, a couple of does from Bayshore’s Farm.

Low and behold, our ride home was filled with the anticipation of playing with the small herd of 14 cute and fuzzy goats we had just crammed into every crack and crevice of the van.

After a few hours on the road, the van started to smell a bit different, so we cracked a window.  Before we got half-way home, we had every window down and had to keep our faces out as far outside as we could while still driving.  We didn’t dare stop.  The smell was so strong you could from smell us from outside at the gas pump when stopping to refuel.

Later, we ran into some late night fog and had to get a hotel.  There was some kind of convention at the main hotel in town, so we had to stay at the little hotel at the back of the town.

People stared and made comments to us all the way into the room.   We were just hoping to make it through the night with all 14 goats still in the van.  We did made it out then next day, thankfully, but I am telling you–day two smelled even worse!

We spent the whole trip home trying to figure out how to tell Jim ( Linda’s husband) that we had spent all his money.  We were supposed to return with change. Instead, we showed up with 11 extra goats!  Fortunately, he was a good sport, as usual, and has grown to love and even help out with these amazing little goats.

We started showing our goats in 2009.  We absolutely love going to the shows and hanging out with other mini silky goat people, and it seems that we just can’t get enough of them–the goats and the people!  We strive to present our goats with great conformation and long silky hair, and new and exciting colors from our herd.

Well, that’s the story of Hobby Hills (where girls rule and boys drool) and about us.
